About the Artwork

As natives of South Carolina, we are proud of our state and of the international community represented by so many companies in the Upstate. We were inspired by our state flag to create an almost life-size palmetto tree with the crescent moon cradling the world. The palmetto tree represents the toughness and durability that Michelin tires are known for, and the crescent moon illustrates our growing Upstate and international inclusion. We call it the PalmetTIRE Tree. It is a 10′ tall palmetto tree made from 6 Michelin tires, 140′ of rebar, 40+ grinding disk, multiple bandsaw and sawzall blades, 40′ of Unistrut, bolts, screws, glue and over 120 man hours of work.

About the Team

The Meadors have selected Meals on Wheels of Greenville as their charity. Meals on Wheels enhances the lives of homebound individuals by providing nutritious meals, personal contact and related services to seniors throughout Greenville County.
